Welcome!
Brett D. Morana, Psy.D is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over fifteen years of experience working with individuals, couples, and groups. He specializes in a variety of areas including loss and grief, gay and lesbian issues/development and especially the concept of loss of life images, relationships, life transitions, anxiety, depression, forensics, body image issues, and self-esteem.
Dr. Morana believes that although "pain" is something we would like to avoid, it is an inevitable part of life. When we encounter these painful experiences, at different points in our lives, they cause emotional distress which can lead to unhealthy feelings, behaviors, and patterns. But the positive aspect of painful experiences is that they can provide the opportunity to change... change that helps us grow and transform ourselves, bringing our lives a deeper sense of meaning. It is often very difficult to recognize these positive life changing opportunities while in the midst of profound pain or even after it subsides but that is where therapy can help. Dr. Morana strongly believes that finding a qualified and experienced Psychologist that resonates with your needs is the key to achieving the best therapeutic results and experience. Collaborative work in therapy can facilitate awareness, promote healing, and illuminate paths for change leading to a more meaningful relationship with yourself and others.
He uses the therapeutic relationship with his clients as a representation of their lives, exploring feelings; examine maladaptive patterns and relationships to get beyond the pain, move away from what doesn't work in their lives to generate increased insights and practice new skills in an interactive and safe supportive therapeutic space.
